The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a collaborative organization representing the nine historically African American, international Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. Collectively, these organizations are known as The Divine Nine.
While each organization independently advances community awareness and social activism through educational, economic, and cultural initiatives on both national and international levels, their members recognized that a united effort would have a greater impact. In response, the NPHC was established as a permanent organization on May 10, 1930, at Howard University and was later incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois in 1937.
